چکیده
In this paper, we attempt to present a comparison through rigorous studies (existing conventional models) following software based modeling and verifications through simulations in terms of various traffic parameters such as packet loss, Recovery Time (Latency), reordering of packets including recovery time for various widely used path recovery models for the purpose of end-to-end recovery of LSPs in MPLS domains using NS2 simulator.

MPLS/IP Analysis and Simulation for the Implementation of Path Restoration Schemes
IP (Internet Protocol) has been traditionally routed over ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) via Virtual Circuits (VCs) or Multi-Protocol over ATM (MPOA). These methods proved to have a complicated operation mode; therefore, the necessity for a simpler method is required. All these necessities can be supported by the Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) since it integrates the most important cha...
متن کاملAn efficient and flexible MPLS signaling framework for mobile networks
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) has gained momentum in recent years as an effective tool to provide Quality of Service (QoS) in a variety of networks. This has in turn created active interest in the area of recovery in MPLS based networks. A number of recovery schemes for MPLS domains have been proposed in recent years. However, the current schemes lack support for recovery in dynamic netw...
متن کاملMultiple Fault Tolerance in Mpls Network Using Open Source Network Simulator
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a label based switching technique initiated by Internet Engineering Task Force to bring the speed of layer 2 switching to layer 3. Its label based switching technique allows routers to make the forwarding decision based on the contents of label instead of performing a complex route lookup table. Furthermore it allows explicit routing to overcome links and...
متن کاملA Review on Various Fast Reroute Schemes for Traffic Protection Mechanisms in MPLS
For a perfect network it must have ability to keep all the tasks and services running even when a link or node fails. This feature of any network is usually known as network resilience. The basic working of resilient network is that it can recover from a failure by automatically diverting the traffic from the failed portion of the network to another active part of the network. This process must...
متن کاملReliable and fast rerouting mechanism for a protected label switched path
The paper presents a fast and efficient mechanism for rerouting traffic when there is a link failure or congestion problem in Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. Our method uses a predefined, alternative Label Switched Path (LSP) in order to restore traffic and significantly improves the performance in comparison to similar, existing proposals. We show that our proposal is not only a...
